The LMF II Survival Knife was originally designed to free aircraft personnel from aircraft. You can take that to mean that it performs well under many tough applications. It’s a great strap cutter, can be used as a spear, cut firewood, and on and on. It may not be quite as durable and time-tested as the Ka-Bar Full Size US Marine Corps Fighting Knife, but it performs at a high level in a more compact package.

The design of the LMF II is well thought out for intense and extended use. As with most high-quality survival knives, the Gerber is a fixed blade knife. It’s intentionally not full tang, though, to reduce the impact from hammering. The handle is composed of glass-filled nylon.

The almost five-inch blade is a drop point style, which extends the spine of the blade as long as possible to the point. It’s made of stainless steel with a partially serrated edge before its fine edge. The LMF II comes with a durable, fire-resistant sheath to protect the blade in any situation.
