How to Prepare for and Survive the Coming Food Shortage
The warning signs are all around us. For the past two years, food prices have been going up. Some will say it is because of the falling dollar. However, food is getting more expensive all around the world, not only in the US. Maybe climate change is the reason. Maybe it is a global conspiracy. Ultimately, the reason is not important. What is important is whether you are ready to deal with it. A global food shortage is on the way. Are you ready to survive?
So, what is the solution?
First of all, create a survival food storage. Research has shown that you can do it with only 10 dollars a week. You don’t have to buy everything at once. Carefully make a plan and start with the things that last the longest. You don’t have to rely on survival kits and survival food only. Grains, rice, and different kinds of beans can last from 8 to 12 years. Get some canned food. Also stockpiling flour, pasta, powder milk, and dried fruits is a good idea.
Learn how to preserve and can food yourself. Ask your grandparents or search online. Visiting your local library will benefit you, too. They probably have some books that will help. There are many natural ways to preserve different kinds of food and this can be a great addition to your survival storage. This way you will have food rich in vitamins and minerals. And even if the need for using the stored food never occurs you will save a lot of money if you already have preserved food at home.

Furthermore, have you ever thought about growing your food? Yes, you can do it. It doesn’t matter if you live on several acres of good land in the country or if you live in an apartment in the city – you can grow something to eat. Since you are going to the library anyway, you can take out some books about this. If you have a big backyard it will be relatively easy to build a vegetable garden. If you live in an apartment and only have a small balcony then there are many different techniques you can try out. You just have to start.
Also, depending on the area where you live, you should find a way and get to know the local edible plants, especially the mushrooms.
Of course, you should never forget the non-edible item that you will need. A can opener, knife, flint and matches, and toilet paper are just some of the necessary items you will need.
If you have a good plan and if you get at least three months of food stored for every family member, you will be way ahead of most people. This means that you will have much more time to focus on more urgent things when the need arises.
And remember, successful survival means having a good plan, preparing on time, taking action right away, and having the willpower to keep on going when it is most difficult and when your family will depend on you.
